Sunrise Beach

Sanur faces east, so it is one of the best places in southern Bali to watch the sunrise, while the west-coast beaches get the sunsets. Early morning is the best time for the beachfront path, when locals swim, fishermen bring in their jukung boats and it is still cool enough to cycle.

Island Hopping from Sanur

Fast boats to Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan leave from Sanur's harbour and from beach landings along the coast. Most operators include pickups from hotels in southern Bali. Book a day ahead in peak season and check the weather: crossings can be rough when the swell is big.

Getting Around

The airport is 20 to 30 minutes away via the Bali Mandara toll road or the bypass.
The beachfront path is ideal for bicycles, which many hotels rent or lend.
Ubud is about an hour inland, making Sanur a good base for day trips.
